The Top Reasons Why You’d Want Cisco Switches

used cisco, switches, 3750x, IT servers, deployment, implementation, buying guide

There’s plenty of good networking equipment out there…but not all of it is exceptional. Cisco switches? They’re on a whole ‘nother level. Here’re four very good reasons to deploy these bad boys in your own infrastructure:

Security

The ability of a Cisco switch to deliver maximum network uptime means that there is a lesser chance of malicious infiltration and data leaking due to the decrease in downtime. It’s well-known that their units run a tight ship and lay the smackdown when it comes to integrating firewalls, intrusion prevention and VLANs.

Scalability

As technology progresses rapidly and your business’ needs change, so too will the roles your IT hardware plays. Cisco’s switches, in particular, are so flexible that they can work for a network of nearly any size and are modularly upgradeable, allowing you to save the time and money it would take to implement new solutions or overhaul your switching gear.

Mobility

The workspace is quickly evolving to become more than just the cubicle. As IT mobility becomes ubiquitous, users are working more from home, cafés and remote offices. Employees and visitors are bringing their own devices (BYOD), and along with those devices comes the issue of bringing their own unsecure network (BYON) into and out of the office. Cisco has what they call “converged wired-wireless access” incorporated into their last few models of switches; this technology allows for things like secure access, guest access and seamless roaming for users accessing the network via mobile device.

Efficiency

Slash the power bills and waste less. A stackable Cisco switch will outperform and outlive many similar units in its class. The units themselves are energy efficient and are cost effective to deploy and keep running.

Cisco’s got a great goal for all IT professionals to remember through all of this:

“Deliver an uncompromised user experience on any workspace.”

We can help with that delivery. So, if you have any IT hardware needs, we are the used Cisco reseller to go to. Contact us today for a quote and let’s see if we can’t provide you with a first-rate switch with first-rate savings.

NASA Bonanza: How 715 Planets Were Discovered in Kepler Mission

Bonanza. No…not that. It’s the word NASA is using to describe the recent Kepler mission findings that were announced Wednesday. 715 new planets have been discovered, orbiting 305 stars in what NASA calls “multiple-planet systems much like our own solar system.” What. Previously verified exoplanets, planets that orbit a star outside of our solar system, have generally been the size of Neptune (four times the size of Earth) or larger. One of the more remarkable aspects of this recent discovery is that nearly all of these newly-verified celestial orbs are smaller than Neptune, greatly adding to the number of known smaller planets with a size closer to that of Earth. To help you understand just how monumentally exciting and bonkers this all is, here is an overwhelming infographic:

Quite the discovery.

This recent discovery made me think of things in planIT HARDWARE terms, as I usually do. We have a bonanza of our own with our recent influx of the HWIC-4ESW, a Cisco High-Speed WAN (wide area network) Interface Card. These little stars are a part of the Cisco router system, and they allow these high-performing routers to really shine with gigabit speeds. Our recent shipment just added a whole slew to our inventory. And here’s this again, just because it’s awesome and space is just like the Wild West:

No Messing with a G-unit

g unit, 3750g, 3750, cisco, 50 cent, it hardware, used it hardware, eol, switch, planitToday, we’re going to take a look at the King of Bling in the world of Cisco switches…the G-unit.

The G-unit is a type of high-end switch, comprised of several Ethernet ports that are all infused with gigabit speeds. A veritable entourage of ports allows these units to reach speeds of Ethernet connectivity that surpass its megabit-capacity counterparts. These ports allow data to be transferred rapidly, fired back and forth across a network. Protect yo neck.

With today’s high-traffic network demands, and in a time where digital multitasking is more available (and expected) than ever, a G-unit is an invaluable device to provide the necessary bandwidth. Let’s say you walk into the conference room and are asked to give a presentation…but you’re giving that presentation not just to everyone in the room, but also to the clients in Asia via an IP video call; you’re sending out an outline to everyone present; you’re pulling the website up to demonstrate recent changes made to the user interface. The power of Gigabit Ethernet that a G-unit can provide can make all of this possible for multiple devices at once.

No one can mess with the G-unit.

No, really—we won’t be seeing much of the action, if any, down here in the Peach State.

It’s been said that some areas can average up to 1.5 million cicadas per acre; that’s a lot at once. Here at planIT, we’ll occasionally get large, incoming swarms of IT hardware, both new-in-box and new-out-of-box and also refurbished.

Recently, we received a brood of Dell 3548 PowerConnect 3500 Series Switches.

Locust? More like, low cost. We’re fully stocked with these bad boy switches, and since we’re planIT HARDWARE, they’re going to be about 80% less than the list price. The 3548P is a 48-port stackable switch that is capable of supplying power to PoE-enabled devices like WiFi access points. So what are you waiting for? Come plague us with inquiries and orders!

Your Network Hardware Draft: Our Top Players

nfl, nfl draft, IT hardware, IT buying guide, network hardware buying guide, top-selling network hardware, top-selling cisco, cisco, cisco systems, 3750x, 3650x, 3560xWith the NFL draft behind us now, we can see how different teams are shaping up for the upcoming season. Sure, this year’s draft didn’t have the excitement of years past: last year, the first three picks were Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Trent Richardson–all of whom are franchise players. With Eric Fisher, Luke Joeckel and Dion Jordan as the first three picks, it’s obvious that, this year, teams focused more on the offensive line and players that do most of the hard work; jersey sales will be mediocre. Eric Fisher was a good choice by the Kansas City Chiefs, and he will definitely add serious value to their organization.  Yesterday, we spoke about the underdogs and how players drafted in later rounds can still make the biggest impact in the league. It still blows my mind that Tom Brady was the 199th overall pick back in 2000. These guys that were underrated are now considered some of the biggest playmakers in the game.

Below is a list of a few products that planIT HARDWARE considers to be the biggest players in our arena. These items will have a big impact on your business, so check out http://www.planithw.com to see our entire inventory!
